Coaching Pathway

Structured coaching is crucial to the success of ClubGolf. There are a various coaching roles that support the ClubGolf Player Pathway, with opportunities for teachers, volunteers and golf professionals to get involved.

Throughout the 330 golf clubs and facilities across Scotland delivering the ClubGolf programme there are currently over 1500 qualified volunteer golf coaches and an increasing number of PGA Professionals coaching, with 182 currently delivering sessions.

Volunteers who wish to get involved with ClubGolf junior golf coaching at their golf club or facility can become trained and licensed through the Professional Golfers Association (PGA).


Become a primary school trained deliverer

Become a helper
The ClubGolf Helper role is ideal for anyone over the age of sixteen who wishes to get involved in coaching and developing children and young people in golf. Read more...

Level 1 - ClubGolf Stage 1
The Level 1 qualification is a basic introduction to coaching that enables volunteers or Assistant Professionals to help a more qualified coach (e.g. a Golf Professional) deliver sessions to beginners. Level 1 CPD Course - ClubGolf Stage 2

Level 2 - ClubGolf Stages 1 and 2
The Level 2 Coaching Certificate will provide individuals with the knowledge and competence to lead the planning and delivery of coaching sessions to improve golfers. Level 2 Coaches can deliver ClubGolf stages 1 and 2. Read more...

Level 2/3 PGA Professional - ClubGolf Stages 1, 2 and 3

The aim of ClubGolf is to create a development pathway from entry level through to the highest levels of achievement, enabling increased access to golf, higher participation levels, improved standards of performance, and sustained growth in the future.

All coaches in the ClubGolf programme who successfully complete their Level 1 Certificate in Golf Coaching will receive a letter from the PGA Membership department inviting them to become a licensed coach.
