Young golfers in Central Scotland have the chance to test their skills and have some fun at a series of events this summer as entries open for the 2015 Forth Valley and West Lothian Junior Golf Flag Series.
The series is now in its sixth year and is designed to provide an introduction to competition for players in a non-threatening, fun environment. It allows youngsters to travel around and play different courses and meet other players.
It is geared towards boys and girls aged between eight and 14 who are in ClubGolf Stage 1 coaching programmes or above. There are three categories of competition which are suited to every level.
The series of seven events begins at Callander Golf Club on Thursday 9 July, ending at Polkemmet Golf Club on Sunday 13 September.
ClubGolf Regional Manager for Central Scotland, Mandy Martin, said: “Players and parents really enjoy the events which are a really simple format, kindly hosted by the clubs. The main thing is having fun at the same time as learning about competitive golf, experiencing different courses, and meeting other golfers.
“For many of the players who took part in the first series six years ago, it was their first-ever competition, and they are now low handicap players, some of whom are now progressing through the Scottish Golf Development Centres programme.”
All players are encouraged to come along, give it a go and have fun!
