An exciting new vacancy has arisen within ClubGolf, the national junior golf development programme. Born out of Scotland’s successful bid to host Ryder Cup 2014, ClubGolf continues to strive to provide opportunities in and around major events to engage and excite young people and volunteers.

Salary from £22,000 + pension scheme and other benefits

During the next 2 year period ClubGolf will play a key part in delivering a number of events, at a local, regional and national level, to support the build up to Ryder Cup 2014.  Applications are now being sought for the role of ClubGolf Events Coordinator to lead and oversee the activation of this programme of event delivery.

Candidates for the position must have a minimum of two years experience working in an event management role with an excellent knowledge and understanding of event planning and management. You must be capable of working in a fast-moving and dynamic environment with experience of partnership working and strong project management and communication skills, both written and verbal.

The role will be based at the Scottish Golf Union's (SGU) offices at The Duke's, St Andrews but will involve remote working, including attendance at events and evening/weekend hours.  The ClubGolf Events Coordinator will be line managed by the ClubGolf Manager and will lead on the following key areas:

 

  • To lead the planning and delivery of the ClubGolf Festival including the ClubGolf Camps and ClubGolf activities in and around the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open (ClubGolf at the Castle)
  • To lead the planning and delivery of Ryder Cup related ClubGolf events during the 2 year lead in to 2014
  • To work alongside Ryder Cup Europe Ltd and other key partners to deliver ClubGolf activities in and around the Junior Ryder Cup and support the activation of ClubGolf related events during the Ryder Cup itself
  • To lead the planning and delivery, supported by the ClubGolf Regional Managers, of any ClubGolf related activities in and around major events in the Golfing calendar and when applicable, to support the activation of activity of sponsors and partners of ClubGolf 
  • To work alongside the PGA Coach Education and Development Manager to plan and deliver Regional Coaching Events and an annual Coaching Conference
  • To oversee the 'Volunteer Taskforce' a key group of volunteers, as well as developing and building  relationships with clubs, facilities and other potential venue hosts 
  • To manage the  Events budget and related financial management
  • To monitor and produce post event evaluation, providing reports as required

This is a key role within the ClubGolf team and provides an exciting opportunity for someone looking to advance their career within event management.  The position will involve working closely with the ClubGolf Regional Managers, the ClubGolf Marketing Executive, the ClubGolf PR & Media Executive as well as other teams within Scottish Golf.
