It took the form of a four-man Texas Scramble made up of enthusiastic S1 and S2 pupils, many of whom had previously been involved in ClubGolf coaching at the club, who faced nine separate challenges set up on the Stornoway Golf Club course. These included putting, pitching over a bunker and playing to a target area.

The winning team on the beautiful day on Lewis was made up of Mark Morrison, Euan Macdonald, Kyle Munro and Alfie Macmillan, who were able to complete all challenges with the lowest accumulated score.

Ken Galloway, PGA Level 2 coach at Stornoway was delighted to see a total of 32 pupils competing in the unique nine-hole challenge.

He said: "Young people relish competition. It was a pleasure to observe and supervise these youngsters enjoying what was, for some, their brand new experience of the game of golf.

"It also gave our ClubGolf young golfers, already with experience, a chance to demonstrate their skills to school friends. We hope that new recruits will attend next year's Clubgolf coaching sessions at Stornoway Golf Club"
