Members of Bridge of Allan Golf Club can look forward to receiving an early Christmas present. The first phase of an ambitious programme to improve the Club's practice facilities has now been completed and opened by Mandy Martin, ClubGolf Regional Manager for Central Scotland.

New practice facility opens at Bridge of Allan

The new facilities, costing over £20,000, include a fully covered twin bay golf practice net that provides golfers with shelter from the rain.  A series of artificially turfed mats for practising pitching and chipping were also opened.

CM Steel Buildings of Bathgate erected the shelter with Mo-Lawn Ltd of Dunblane installing the artificial turf and nets.

The improvements have been funded by grants of £10,000 from thesportscotland  Sport Facilities Fund, £3,754 from Clubsport Stirling's Club Development Fund and a £1,000 donation received from the Highland Spring Group.  The balance of over £5,000 came from the fund raising efforts of the Club's own members.

Frank Kelly, Club President, says that "This fabulous new practice facility marks the start of a number of improvements that will be of real benefit to its members. This year's wet weather has, in particular, meant that we have had to cancel many of our ClubGolf coaching sessions for our younger members.  We are confident that we won't have this problem next year".
