On Saturday the 22nd of September Tarland Golf Club Junior Section held an adult and junior texas scramble competition.
After a frosty start to the day it turned into a lovely sunny
day which was enjoyed by all 36 players. There were 9 teams
of 4 people, 2 adults and 2 juniors.
ClubGolf coach, PGA Pro Keil Beveridge played a hole with each
team which the children really enjoyed. For many of the juniors
this was the first time they had played 9 holes or played in a
competition and they all thouroughly enjoyed their round.
The gents and ladies were all very impressed with the junior's
level of golf and enjoyed their company around the course.
The winning team was Doug Booth, Jan Joseph, Andrew Leahy and
Caitlin Fraser, with a score of 23.3.
Second were Raymond Reid, Gavin Robertson, Scott Angus and
Third were Peter Irvine, Norma Strachan, Kirsty Irvine and Lucy
After the texas scramble we held a family fun afternoon
with chipping and putting competitions and a BBQ.
Where all juniors and their families were invited to join in the
fun. The day concluded with the Junior Prize Giving where all
children recieved their ClubGolf certificates and goodies and the
club trophies were handed out.
The day was a great success and Tarland are already looking into
a date for next years event, which will keep up a good relationship
between the adult and junior members.
